Stephanie Lane is an Interdisciplinary Artist, award-recognised filmmaker, and Creative Director whose work exploring speciesism has received global recognition in the media. Her work is a dance across various mediums - film, poetry, and performance.
Based in London as one half of the directing identity Silent Tapes, she built an acclaimed body of music-film work for internationally recognised recording artists including London Grammar, Celeste, Mahalia, Little Simz, Wizkid, Stefflon Don, and Pale Waves. Silent Tapes’ directing work was shortlisted by both the UK Music Video Awards and Berlin Music Video Awards. Its films were featured by leading creative and cultural platforms including Vice, Noisey, MTV, The Fader, Creative Review, Promonews, Little Black Book and Booooooom. The partnership was subsequently signed by OB Management for commercial and branded-content representation.
Lane’s career has consistently connected creative excellence with social purpose. She co-created humanitarian photography initiatives supporting children in underserved communities, including 50 Kids/50 Cameras, which enabled children in a Brazilian favela to document their own lives. Work from her charitable practice was exhibited at United Nations Headquarters in New York in collaboration with UNICEF and later commissioned for a wider presentation at Tate Lates, Tate Modern, London.
In 2023, Lane expanded her practice into interdisciplinary and socially engaged art, establishing the UK not-for-profit organisation SPECIESISM.WTF. Her work explores sentience, sustainability and the ethical relationship between human and non-human animals and the environment through photography, film, performance and emerging technologies. Her photographic work *The Milked Woman* was selected as a finalist for the 2024 Women in Art Prize UK.
In 2026, Lane presented *Fishing is NOT Human(e)* as part of KINDFIRE, GREENy BastARTS’ international eco-art initiative during London Climate Action Week. Hosted at The Building Centre in London, the work used performance, visual storytelling and emerging technologies to explore marine conservation, ecological interdependence and humanity’s relationship with aquatic life.
Lane now applies her directorial experience to cinematic digital storytelling across wellness, longevity, sustainable hospitality, travel and plant-based luxury living. Her latest book, ‘WILD KIN’, derived from her lifelong love for poetry and reimagines children’s nursery rhymes through a compassionate lens for all beings. Her voiceover-led short films combine the production value of professional filmmaking with the immediacy and reach of contemporary social media.
